Tomorrow is a big day for the masterminds behind patandmeg.com: the friendly crews in Baxter start building our house! It’s very exciting to know that tomorrow marks the beginning of our countdown to moving south this summer.  The construction is slated to take about five months, meaning that if all (meaning the weather and the building) goes according to plan we should be moving in and getting settled just in time for a Labor Day housewarming party.

Between Christmas and New Year’s we spent some time in the area making some design choices and meeting some of the people that are going to be working with us over the course of the next several months.  We were quite pleased—and vastly reassured—that we got along so well with the design consultant and the builder.  I am sure that it would make for a long half year if the personalities clashed.  Seeing the lot again, and meeting the people that are going to be working to make our dream home become a reality is what convinced me that it was real.  I am really excited about seeing the pictures that will be posted from the builder, and hearing the weekly status reports from the frontlines.

We are very much looking forward to watching our house emerge from a mere plot of dirt; the picture will be so much better when there is a house behind that sold sign!
