Parents, Meet the Parents

Saturday, 28 August 2004 12:47

Today is the big day that the Estradas meet the Grays for the first time. Despite Meghan and I being together for almost three years, the 250-odd miles between Massachusetts and New Jersey have prevented our families from meeting until now. Hopefully there will be no reenactments of Meet the Parents, although I’m sure the first meeting between the Cubans and the Polish-Irish-German-English-Lithuanian contingents will be interesting! Luckily we’ve invested in lots of booze to “lubricate the machinery” so to speak!

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a guestbook!

If you’re really awake this morning, you might notice the new “Guestbook” link on the right of the screen. This allows you to leave your mark, to be archived forever in the historical annals of PatandMeg.com (or at least until someone spills coffee on the server)! Let us know what you think of the site, or anything else that’s on your mind. Please keep it clean since this is a family site!

You can also leave comments specific to any post on the site, using the “Comments” link at the bottom of each post.

JC’s Little Helper

Thursday, 26 August 2004 08:56

After several days of waiting, the “wedding planner” at the Newark Cathedral has responded to our inquiry. It’s sad to see that even the Catholic Church has jumped on the suck-all-the-life-out-of-young-couples bandwagon, and set the princely sum of $2000 for the privilege of having your wedding at the Newark Cathedral. My favorite part is that you have to BYOP (Bring Your Own Priest) if you actually want a full Catholic mass. Here’s the email from JC’s little helper, MC:

The 13th Apostle?

Tuesday, 24 August 2004 09:01

As previously mentioned, we have a reception hall booked and set. The next big item is of course the Church. We’re looking at the Newark Cathedral, and not only does the Church have a website, but they also have a wedding planner! I think the wedding industry is getting a little out of control when Jesus has a wedding planner! I wonder if he or she is a bonna fide saint, or is somehow more “holy” than your average wedding planner. Do we address him or her as Father, Mother, Your Holy Wedding Planningness or what?

If nothing else, Jesus’ wedding planner appears to get a pretty good vacation package, since he or she has been “unavailable” for the last week, and returns from his or her vacation (pilgrimage perhaps?) on Wednesday. Hopefully the patron saint of Wedding Planning will not punish me for this post!

Stay tuned for even more wedding news!
