Hello Pat & Meg (& Mark!)
Pat & Meg, I hope you do return to Nova Scotia in the future- there is much to see and do here. Mark, I too am curious about your campground.... I hope things are going well for you. We love to camp and enjoy quality natural campgrounds- some are no more than a parking lot for RV's. I too have hitchhiked across Canada (though minus the pooch) and now live in a lovely rural area. We actually have a great spot for tenting (though do not have services like showers and such as a campground would) and often have friends campout on our property. If you are passing through Antigonish and don't mind roughing it in the woods, drop me a line.
Good luck with your next trip!

Mark,

Thanks for your kind comments! I recently upgraded the software here and just discovered it was stuck in "moderation."

Congrats on your trip; it sounds like quite an adventure! I generally prefer the more rugged campsites, and wish there were sites with a little more privacy that barred campers and RV's, but I guess that would hurt a big revenue stream.

Please keep us updated on the progress of your campsite! I am hoping to return to NS in 2008, and am pondering a ride from Newfoundland to Alaska, across Canada and then returning through several of the big parks in the northwestern US.

Best of luck with the campsite!

I was working on the rules and regulations to opening a campsite in Nova Scotia as I have had land here since the 1800's in a small town named Wallace, My great Grandfather owned tall ships in Wallace to carry cargo to Newfoundland once apon a time, where the land has travelled through the family. so much for that story, I stumbled across your page and enjoyed your stories, too bad for a couple of bad apples to ruin a night of camping.
I have just arrived from a month of Hitchhiking from Banff to Halifax with my Pooch (DoG) I think I am the first to travel that distance hitching and hiking with a dog, I camped throughout the trip in Mountains and Valleys no campsites though just in the woods, so you can see how much I like the outdoors and camping, besides enjoying your stories Hopefully you will return and visit my campsite with hopes it will be ready for 2008. I will ensure your camping will be a lot more memorable than the one you mentioned as mine is going green, with showers for free just like the way it should be,especially since the Campsite will be using solar power for water, power along with all enviro freindly products, with one of the warmest basins on the Sunshine Trail I am sure you would enjoy the swimming, snorkling and beautiful stars at night hopefully you will visit the campsite one day.
A proud Nova Scotian
